Massifs, mountains and outdoor activities

• In summer, access to the forest massifs is regulated in several departments of the region, including the Bouches-du-Rhône, the Var and the Vaucluse, according to the fire risk: it may be restricted or prohibited from one day to the next. Check the information of the day from the department’s prefecture before you set off.
• In the mountains, the weather changes quickly and some passes and roads close in winter: check conditions (snow cover, avalanche risk, road openings) with official sources.
• Hiking, swimming, diving, skiing and boat trips are at your own risk: adapt your route to your level, take water with you and follow the instructions posted on site.
• Some natural sites (calanques, islands, gorges, national parks) are subject to specific access rules (booking, road closures, parking restrictions) set by the bodies that manage them.
