A renovated beach to be found soon in this commune of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur: 1 million euros invested for its restoration

If you dream of enjoying the sweetness of the sun on fine sand, great news comes straight from Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur! The town of Berre-l’Étang is preparing to offer its residents and tourists a brand new place for relaxation. By the summer of 2025, thanks to an investment of nearly 1 million euros, this renovated beach promises to be a true sunbathing spot by the port. Get ready to discover a lively place full of life, water activities, and well-deserved moments of relaxation!

The beautiful town of Berre-l’Étang, nestled in the Bouches-du-Rhône, is preparing for a triumphant return of a much-anticipated beach! Set to undergo a spectacular transformation by the summer of 2025, this seaside site promises to offer a true haven of peace for residents and tourists, thanks to an investment of nearly 1 million euros. Focus on this rehabilitation project that will breathe new life into the coastal promenade of this charming town.

An ambitious project to revitalize the coastline

With palpable nostalgia, the municipality wishes to reconnect with the spirit of the 1960s-70s. Indeed, Berre-l’Étang aims to restore a site conducive to relaxation near the port, a place where it’s nice to bask in the sun and enjoy the Provençal sweetness. This project is part of a broader coastal redevelopment framework aimed at enhancing the attractiveness of the town while diversifying recreational activities.

A beach of 3,500 square meters of happiness

The future beach, spanning 3,500 square meters, will be located near the current axis between the Belvédère and the Albert Samson port. Visitors will soon be able to enjoy a sandy space, a nautical base to practice sports such as kitesurfing and paddle, as well as suitable facilities, including restrooms and a monitoring service. Who knows, a restaurant and an ice cream shop might even emerge, bringing a breath of fresh air to this island of tranquility.

A significant investment for the future

To revive this precious piece of paradise, a budget of 963,000 euros excluding taxes will be necessary. The works announced for the beginning of 2025 should last three months. Every detail counts, from removing rocks to adding fine sand and urban furniture; all efforts will be made to transform this place into a true little corner of happiness.

Sens Urbain, an expert service at work

It is the urban planning service Sens Urbain, based in Fos-sur-Mer, that will take charge of the design of this bold project. Special attention will be given to the greening of the surroundings, in harmony with the existing park and its majestic palms. The new beach will be named “Plage du Passet”, a nod to the old port. This rehabilitation will contribute not only to the beautification of the promenade but also to the socio-economic dynamics of the town.

Blue Flag, the pleasant ambition for quality

The town hall of Berre-l’Étang dreams big and hopes to earn the prestigious Blue Flag label, a guarantee of water quality for swimming. Making this place accessible and enjoyable for everyone is the municipality’s goal. An inauguration planned for June 2025 would crown these efforts. Environmental concerns will be at the heart of the developments, ensuring a healthy and sustainable space for users.

Relieving the Champigny beach

This ambitious project aims not only to beautify Berre-l’Étang but also to alleviate the overcrowded popular Champigny beach, often besieged, especially during peak season. Located four kilometers from the center, this beach is often difficult to access for people without vehicles. The new beach is also expected to host sports and festive events, thus enriching the town’s event calendar.
